Words: “a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken sounds or their written representation that functions as a principal carrier of meaning.”
So, words have meaning? Correct? Isn’t that what I’m supposed to understand? Words are in fact “carriers of meaning”? Ok, well, define “meaning.”
Meaning: “what is intended to be, or actually is.”
Hmm. What about “truth?” Define “truth.”
Truth: “the state or character of being true.”
That’s helpful. You know, I think the “truth” is that words are negotiable. Well, at least their meanings are. And I am making deals every day. I can ask a million different questions and get the exact same answer for every single one, verbatim.
I don’t mean to belittle you, or what you do. I guess I’m just trying to figure out how to…say what I mean, and mean what I say. I mean, after all, isn’t that the whole point? The point of anything, everything, to find meaning?
I forgot. You can only answer questions about words. You can’t tell me what I really want to know. You can’t really give me the answer I’m looking for. Can you?
But, thanks for your help, I guess. Honestly, I probably couldn’t do it without you. I find words and you tell me what they mean. Whether I really want to know, or not.
One last question. What’s the definition of “me?”
Me: “the objective case of I, used as a direct or indirect object.”
Right. Of course.

Seeing the Sky
Here is a poem that I wrote. It was based off of a dream that I had.
I'm trying hard to see the sky, but clouds are in my way.
In the forest, she can see us, and I know just what she'll say.
We'll have to go down under ground until our turn has come,
And as long as we're down there, we know we'll never see the sun.
We meet with friends and say our goodbyes,
And none of them will ask why.
Though no one says it, somehow I know
I won't be seeing the sky.
There Will Be LIGHT
I thought I'd share a song that expresses a lot of who I am and how I live my life.
The song is called "Light" from Next To Normal.
We need some light. First of all, we need some light.
You can't sit here in the dark, and all alone. It's a sorry sight.
It's just you and me.
We'll live, you'll see.
Night after night,
we'd sit and wait for the morning light.
But we've waited far too long for all that's wrong
to be made right.
Day after day,
wishing all our cares away,
trying to fight the things we feel,
but some hurts never heal.
Some ghosts are never gone,
but we go on.
We still go on.
And you find some way to survive,
and you find out you don't have to be happy at all
to be happy you're alive.
Day after day,
give me clouds, and rain, and grey.
Give me pain if that's what's real.
It's the price we pay to feel.
The price of love is loss.
But still we pay.
We love anyway.
And when the night has finally gone,
and when we see the new day dawn,
we'll wonder how we wandered for so long, so blind.
The wasted world we thought we knew,
the light will make it look brand new.
So let it shine.
Day after day,
we find the will to find our way.
Knowing that the darkest nights will someday see the sun.
When our long night is done,
there will be light.
Can we open up our lives.
Sons and daughters, husbands, wives.
And fight that fight.
There will be light.
THERE WILL BE LIGHT.
THERE WILL BE LIGHT.
